Kobe Bryant dies in tragic helicopter crash
Daughter Gianna Bryant also confirmed dead
Famed basketball star Kobe Bryant died this morning in a helicopter accident.
TMZ first reported and the Los Angeles Times confirmed that Mr. Bryant was on board a helicopter near Los Angeles when it lost control due to "foggy conditions," according to the LA Times. Local police originally reported five deaths in a tweet but had not confirmed names.
The crash occurred shortly before 10 a.m. this morning, shocking fans across the nation. Before outlets began to confirm the news, many refused to believe the report, hoping that TMZ had been "hacked." But TMZ has accurately reported deaths in the past, even before major outlets could confirm them, including when Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller passed away in 2018.
Mr. Bryant was 41.
In an update and another tragic twist, TMZ reported that Mr. Bryant's daughter, 13-year-old Gianna Bryant also died in the crash. She played for the Los Angeles Lady Mamba basketball team and was considered an up-and-coming player herself.
